Students Serve Reaches Out with New Website and Visual Identity
A national non-profit organization that provides grants to college students, Students Serve communicates regularly with an audience that includes students, donors, foundations, professors and administrators.
Students Serve’s volunteers organize projects in their local college communities. For example, American University student, Julia Young, used her Students Serve grant to develop a program that enlists college students to teach English to Latino AU employees.

To attract more volunteers and increase awareness for its programs, Students Serve wanted to reach a wider audience, but lacked the visual identity and online presence to do so effectively.
After naming Students Serve as its 2010 REACHOut partner in March, Omni’s talented team of designers, Web developers and writers began work, creating a visual makeover for the organization, including logo design, communications collateral and a new website.
“The complete re-branding package created by Omni is enabling us to project a professional and polished image to the various audiences that come into contact with our organization,” said Angela Perkey, Students Serve’s founder and executive director. “This was a difficult feat to accomplish because we work with a variety of individuals.”
Prior to the re-branding, Students Serve’s grant applicants had to download an application before completing it and e-mailing it to Perkey. The new website includes an online application form that students can complete and submit entirely through the website, streamlining the application process and improving the organization’s internal operations.
The new site also allows Perkey and volunteers to easily update website content and add blog posts to generate awareness about the organization and its mission.
“The professionals at Omni could not have been more helpful to work with. They guided me throughout the process of identifying an effective image for the Students Serve brand and then incorporating the new look in our website,” Perkey said. “They took the time to listen to our needs and then translated that into an effective end product.”
Omni launched its REACHOut project in 2008 to help charities and nonprofits revitalize their visual branding to better attract donations, volunteer participation and media attention.
“Without a doubt, the excellent work that Omni has delivered will enable us to further our mission of improving communities by empowering students to learn, serve and lead,” Perkey said.
