REACHOut Recipient Sees Boost in Donations and Participation
New Futures Sees Boost in Donations and Participation
Innovative nonprofit organizations often find it difficult to attract funding and increased media attention when their visual identities don’t measure up to their programs.
When OmniStudio launched its pro bono REACHOut Project in 2008, its goal was to help charities and nonprofits revitalize their visual branding to better attract donations, volunteer participation and media attention.
Mission accomplished. Omni’s first REACHOut partner—New Futures, a D.C.-based scholarship program—is seeing an increase in its website traffic and donations at a time when other charities its size are struggling.

“I do believe that the association with OmniStudio has been a major factor in the rapid growth of New Futures over the last two to three years,” said Michael Gould, founder and president of New Futures. “We are able to reach an increasing number of students every year as a result of our funding increasing. I think our funding increase has a lot to do with the fact we have a first-class, professional website, newsletter and a variety of other materials that make us look as good as we actually are.”
Since working with Omni, New Futures has doubled the size of its mailing list, tripled the number of visits to its website in many months, and between 2008 and 2009 saw a more than 10 percent increase in donations.
In 2008 and 2009, Omni’s team of talented writers, designers and Web developers provided New Futures with a visual makeover, including logo design, collateral and new online presence.
New Futures, which began in 1991 with a bequest from Allen J. Gould, provides scholarships to at-risk local area youth and young adults seeking four-year degrees and professional certification through vocational programs.
“The REACHOut project is Omni’s way of supporting our community with the kind of specialized communications expertise and services that are normally out of reach for many small organizations,” said Eileen Kessler, Omni’s president.
Looking ahead, Students Serve will be the beneficiary of Omni’s 2010/2011 REACHOut services. National in reach but based in Washington, Students Serve provides grants to college students to set up and fund volunteer projects in their local college communities.
Omni selected Students Serve based on its past successes, prospects for growth and its need for a fresh communications strategy with professionally designed support materials. “Students Serve embodies the spirit of innovation, personal dedication and community outreach that REACHOut was designed to support and promote,” said Kessler. “The work being done by this committed group of volunteers in colleges and universities around the nation has far-reaching potential.”
Omni will provide Students Serve with an innovative portfolio of new communications tools—a new visual identity, website, electronic communications templates and social media consulting.
“We look forward to working with OmniStudio, and we appreciate its assistance in taking our communications materials to the next level,” said Angela Perkey, founder and executive director of Students Serve. “We know this will make a difference as we look to secure new financial support in the future.”
